Tourism

Tourism is big business in Swtzerland.  Since Byron scratched his name on Castle Chillon's prison pillar and Mr J. Badrutt took some English friends to St Moritz to try skiing, a 14 billion Swiss frank industry has evolved.

Alpine sports, both winter and summer,  remain a main attraction.  There is also a considerable segment of business tourism (international conventions and headquarters especially in Geneva) and education tourism.

Main destinations (some of which students should visit! Perhaps in our photo gallery) are Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Matterhorn, Lugano and Zürich.  Switzerland is also host to a number of impressive events: the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Locarno Film festival or the world's top ranking tennis champion Roger Federer playing on home turf at the Basel Swiss Indoors.

Often though, it is the more modest destinations and events which prove most impressive.  Your tutoring team, International Office or International Coordinator can undoubtedly give such insider tips.

Students can qualify for discounts upon showing their International Student Identity Card.
