Accommodation

The International Office will assist exchange students to find accommodation. A range of furnished rooms or apartments is available both in Olten and in the near vicinity at affordable rents. Usually students will be within a fifteen minute walk or bus ride from the school.

Staff House: Most of our visiting students stay here. The tall apartment building is on the hospital grounds, about a 15 minute walk from the school, and several floors are available for rent to our students. You have your own private room which is furnished with a bed (and bedding, linen supplied), a desk, a wardrobe, a chair and a washbasin. On each floor there is a fully fitted communcal kitchen (where each student is allocated lockable cupboards and fridge space) and bathroom. There is also a communal laundry.

(See this blog of a former exchange student for these photos and information of what it's like living at the staff house)

Franziskushaus: The former training centre of the Capuchin order, the Franziskushaus in Dulliken (a town adjacent to Olten) is to become available as a residence hall for international exchange students as of September 2012.

The modern building, designed by a Le Corbusier student and officially protected, offers 81 single rooms situated in an idyllic, suburban recreational area with close access to public transport, high construction standards and an affordable rent of CHF 400. The halls also offer excellent infrastructure such as common rooms, fitness room, gardens and kitchen and bathroom facilities.

General: While there is sufficient choice of rental accommodation in our region, rentals are usually for longer periods and apartments are usually unfurnished.
