Exchange: Incoming
Many of our exchange students come for one semester - and then chose to stay on for another. The best compliment ever. Exchange students are fully integrated into our regular programmes and can select from a broad range of courses across various semesters and diverse programmes.
To apply for an exchange semester there are a few basic provisos
- You must be enrolled at one of our 130 partner universities (we do not accept Free Movers)
- You must be fluent in English for a semester in an English-taught programme* (or in German for a semester in a German-taught programme)
- You need to submit an application dossier
* Especially suited for exchange semesters are the various courses taught entirely or partially in English: BSc in Business Administration (International Management in Olten or BSc in International Business Management (semester 3 entirely in English) in Basel.
You can download the ECTS Directories of Studies in order to select the courses you wish to attend. If you require more detailed information about the contents of the courses, then the course descriptions can be downloaded. This in turn will help you determine at which campus you could study. Ensure you acquaint yourself with all the other aspects of your semester with us: campus, accommodation, visa, insurance, costs.
Your completed application dossier will be forwarded to us by your International Office.
Deadline Autumn Semester (mid-September to beginning of February) -> 30 May
Deadline Spring Semester (mid-February to beginning of July) -> 30 November
Traineeships
As most domestic students in our degree programmes have completed professional apprenticeships, the School of Business has no formal agreements with third parties offering traineeships. During their studies, students regularly participate in projects with businesses and enterprises (under lecturer supervision) which ensure continued professional insight and practice.
The FHNW is a member of IAESTE and students interested in trainee- or internships should consider applying via this international association.
Each year a very limited number of traineeships are offered at the School of Business, usually in the Institute of Business Information Systems. Interested parties may apply directly to the institute.
