BSc International Business Management
International Business Management (IBM) is a unique trinational 3.5 year study programme which prepares students for an international career in a dynamic business environment. It covers a range of business and management disciplines. Subject areas include Marketing, Human Resources, Economics and General Management, with a strong emphasis on Intercultural Management and languages. (Module overview)
Our students' intercultural competence and leadership skills prove to be an advantage for their career development. They typically work for international companies, for example, as project managers, marketing managers, HR specialists, business analysts, key account managers, supply chain specialists, procurement managers, and management consultants.
Many students go on to study at Masters level, for example the MSc in International Management at the School of Business, FHNW. Some pursue a Masters in a specialist area, such as Economics, Banking and Finance, Marketing or Human Resources, either in Switzerland or abroad.
IBM is based on the collaboration of three universities in the Upper Rhine valley region. Each partner recruits 20 to 30 students per year. They study in rotation on the three campuses of the universities in these three countries.
The first and fourth semesters are mainly taught in French at the Université de Haute Alsace in Colmar, France, the second and fifth mainly in German at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in Lörrach, Germany and the third and sixth entirely in English at the Basel campus of the School of Business, FHNW.
During the 3.5 years of their studies the students from Switzerland must also spend a minimum of 48 weeks in internships in industry in their home countries and around the world. This allows them to put their learning into practice and take responsibility in a challenging work environment.
