2012 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation
Brisbane, Australia, 10-15 June, 2012
Special Session on
Evolutionary Optimization Tools in Logistics
During the last decade the usage of techniques from evolutionary computation and other optimization methods has significantly increased in the area of logistics (in particular, in fields like vehicle routing, scheduling, material flow control, production planning, and supply chain management). Many of them led to considerably improved solutions and are used today in practical environments. This session should increase the awareness of respective approaches and tools. Concepts of specific state-of-the-art methods and respective software implementations are to be presented. The session should contribute to a better understanding of these methods, their specific strengths and weaknesses in practical settings and facilitate their usage by other researchers and by interested application partners in the field of logistics.
Authors are invited to submit their original and unpublished work to this Special Session. Topics of interest include but are not limited to
- Advances in evolutionary algorithms and related methods for problems in logistics
- Software based on such methods
- Applications of evolutionary algorithms and related approaches to problems in logistics
Areas of applications in the field of logistics and supply chain management include but are not limited to
- Transportation planning, especially vehicle routing problems
- Production planning
- Inventory management
- Material flow control
- Location planning
- Network design
