Research Projects and Master Theses

Performing applied and application-oriented research projects are is an integral part of the curriculum of the MSc in Business Information Systems. There are three different projects

  • Project 1: Applying Research Methodology
  • Project 2: Practical Research
  • Master Thesis

It is recommended to combine Project 2 and Master Thesis, defining research statement and research methodology in Project 2 and continuing with the research in the master thesis. It is also possible to have Project 2 and Master Thesis independet.

Research projects are closely related to the competence areas of FHNW, in particular in the Institute for Information Systems IWI. The following links guide to the research proposals in the competence areas of FHNW:

Students interested in a topic are requested to contact the supervision lecturer mentioned in the proposal of their joice. Students can also agree with a supervisor on research topics not mentioned in the lists.

To register for a project or master thesis students have to hand in the registration form by February 28 (for the spring semester) or August 31 (for the autumn semester).
