Overview BEC Higher 1 develops the communication skills and specialist English language knowledge in professional business contexts.

Topics include workplace issues, sales, company growth strategies, finance and management.

Specific attention is given to the strategies and skills necessary for the Cambridge BEC Higher exam.
Learning objectives Upon successful completion of the module, participants can:

  • effectively and accurately describe information represented graphically in written form for a target reader.
  • understand general and detailed information or arguments and their relationships in a variety of authentic business-related texts.
  • extract specific details from a business presentation, follow extended speech and understand unstructured ideas and thoughts.
  • effectively contribute to and understand a business-related discussion using linguistically complex language.
Previous knowledge Entry based on placement test or successful completion of e4/ten2. Language level C1 or above.
Exam format Continuous assessment grade
