Focus on Computer Science

The Institute for Mobile and Distributed Systems follows and processes two main trends, mobility and networking, which have shaped information technology during the past few years and will continue to even more strongly shape it during the years to come. These two main themes are visible throughout our work in application-oriented research and development and in education and in continuing education.

Our committed employees have diverse competencies, which are constantly visible in their teaching and in the applied project work done with industrial partners.

Research and Development

Our scientific personnel conduct research in collaboration with industrial partners and with other institutions which search for the sophisticated and profitable use of information and communication technologies. Selected examples of on-going research projects are documented in our annual focus report.

Undergraduate, Graduate, and Continuing Education

Our lecturers teach primarily Bachelor's degree courses in computer science, in the Switzerland-wide coordinated Master's of Science in Engineering and also in various continuing education programs. As our lecturers are involved in applied research, both our students and the industry have early contact with each other due to the interesting and practically-oriented student project work.
