The Institute of Design and Art Research (IDK) is one of the research institutions run by the Academy of Art and Design (HGK). It is also a teaching institution for the Master of Arts in Design – Master Studio in Design and moved ahead with the MAS Design | Art + Innovation starting in 2009. The institute bundles research projects formulated, initiated and acquired by the institutes of the HGK and is responsible for long term treatment and expansion of three focal points of research: design research, visual studies and artistic research/art appreciation.
