Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at the School of Engineering

Bachelor’s degree courses
The School of Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) is offering ten top-level engineering programmes - mainly in German:
- Electrical and Information Technology
- Energy and Environmental Technology
- iCompetence - a degree programme of Computer Science
- Computer Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Trinational
- Optometry
- Systems Technology
- Business Engineering
For full-time students, a Bachelor’s degree course generally lasts for 6 semesters. A part-time course (only possible in WING and ST) takes 8 semesters. All courses are held at Brugg-Windisch, with the exception of the Mechatronics programme, during which students attend courses in Muttenz, Lörrach and Mulhouse, and Optometry which is based in Olten.
At the end of their course of study, students are awarded a Bachelor of Science degree.
Master’s degree programmes
As from autumn 2008, graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree have the opportunity of studying for a research-oriented Master’s qualification. The Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) programme enables students to increase their engineering skills in a specific field. Further information can be accessed via the following link:
