Cooperation with emerging and developing countries
Global sustainability
To achieve global sustainability, international cooperation – in this case in particular with emerging and developing countries – is indispensable. Our commitment to international development cooperation is therefore one of our centres of gravity. Together with our partners we strengthen the environmental technical know-how in countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa by providing further education and jointly conducting applied research projects. We are highly motivated by the prospect of contributing to the global and local protection of the environment and feel this alone justifies our efforts in the Southern hemisphere. We are very active in technology transfers and have an extensive network of various partners and organisations (governmental, private – national, international). As an independent institution with experience in project management we are the partner of choice for public-private partnerships.
An overview of our global commitment
Research example
In 2010, Cleaner Production was applied in the development cooperation with Jordan's health care system. This cooperation between the Institute for Ecopreneurship (IEC) with the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan (RSS), the Sustainable Business Association (SBA) and the support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco) resulted in the publication of the guide "Best Environmental Practices for the Healtcare Sector". This manual is mainly aimed at hospitals in emerging and developing countries to support them in conducting environmental audits and subsequent methods of resolution.
