3D digitisation

Digital 3D acquisition of real objects

3D digitisation is intended for data representation of physical models in virtual space.

3D digitisation

The selection of the digitisation procedure is primarily oriented toward the object’s characteristics and the desired data quality. A surface scanner is appropriate for external geometries, whereas CT or micro CT is suitable for internal structures.

The following applications are possible as a result of the use of 3D digitisation:

  • Quality assurance: comparison of finished objects with CAD target data.
  • Reverse engineering: preparation of the basic data set of an object for further processing in CAx systems.
  • Epitheses: with 3D surface scanners, faces and castings of missing parts are digitised in order to be able to preform further planning steps with this data basis.
