4D-Interface for Process Management

Navigating three-dimensional space models or complex data structures is no longer dependent upon a screen, a keyboard and a mouse. Virtual reality enables us to represent and manipulate data spatially. It defers to our cognitive capabilities by recognizing human perceptional or motile patterns. As holds true for the user interface of the computer screen, interface design in virtual reality must ensure optimally intuitive operation as well as data capture. The present project is about designing such an interface along with its input and navigation tools. In a virtual work room, a collaborative effort together with design, IT, and VR specialists pursues the development of a spatial interface, as well as of navigation and interaction concepts that may facilitate both the controlling of large volumes of data, and process control. The project also covers the groundwork of a commercial application that will import 3D and 4D user scenarios and prototypes into process management.
