The global demand of organs for liver transplantation exceeds organ availability by a factor of 3. In this talk I will present how we aim at solving this global issue via long term normothermic machine perfusion of organ grafts to allow physicians to evaluate organ quality, enable treatment of specific cases of liver diseases (e.g., steatosis, cancer, etc.) and thereby replenish the organ pool.
