Forschungsseminar Vorlesung von Christoph Bieri

“Fountain of Funding” - How Venture Capital works, and its role in the wider economy, Christoph Bieri, FourTeaTwo/VI Partners

Nowadays, start-up entrepreneurs find a robust network to support and finance their projects in Switzerland. This has not always been the case. At the core of this start-up ecosystem are Venture Capital firms which provide the capital to launch and expand innovative companies. The seminar will give a brief overview on the Swiss start-up ecosystem, will explain how Venture Capital works, and will critically reflect on some aspects related to the wider economy. The seminar will be held in English or German, depending on the audience.

Christoph Bieri is COO and CFO of VI Partners, the longest-established VC firm in Switzerland. Prior to joining VI Partners in June 2020, he was an M&A advisor for life science companies since 2007. From 2002 to 2007, he co-founded and led a lab consumables company (not a success), and prior to that worked as a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. Christoph holds a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry of EPFL and a MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology of University of Basel.
