Infrastructure, Tools and Technologies

We operate and maintain a modern and powerful infrastructure for our research projects and for the sake of our staff.

We use industrial software tools:

  • Cadence Design Systems
  • Mentor Graphics
  • Altera und Xilinx
  • Matlab
  • Microwave Office

Used Technologies

We gained experiences with various technologies and use them depending on the application and the requirements of the partners. We also familiarize ourselves with new technologies if required:

  • FPGA: Altera, Xilinx
  • ASICs: XFab, espros, AMS, TowerJazz
  • Microcontroller: NXP, STM; Arduino, RaspberryPi, BeagleBone

Lab

Our lab is equipped with measuremnt equipment from traditional multimeter through digital scopes up to network and spectrum analyzers.

Class Room Lab

The FHNW Institute of Microelectronics operates a class room lab with 9 RF workplaces for two students each and with 18 dual-boot Windoiws/Linux PCs. They are available for students of the Bachelor curricula and also for MAS and courses and workshops.
