Period Instrument Practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis
Proximity to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis offers Master's students a unique opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of a period instrument. Alongside standard instrumental/vocal classes, students acquire a basic understanding of Early Music by exploring in greater depth the historical context in which these instruments were developed and played.

For keyboard and string instruments: National styles; 17th and 18th century music ensembles; interpretation of 18th/19th piano music; maestro al cembalo etc.
For lead instruments: Orchestral performance for strings and wind instruments; small musical formations; 17th and 18th century music ensembles; 18th and 1th century chamber music; alta capella; recorder consort, viola da gamba consort; Renaissance viola da gamba consort etc.
