Implant development

Developing and testing medical implants by producing complex components from all manner of different materials using additive manufacturing.

The research group has access to outstanding infrastructure and has expertise in developing and testing medical implants, particularly bone replacement materials. Its key competency is producing complex components from polymers, ceramics, titanium and shape-memory alloys in small batches by means of additive manufacturing. Functional implant materials and surfaces, e.g. with antibacterial properties, are also developed and studied.

A wide range of testing options are available for development and testing tasks. We work on applied research and development projects and conduct contract research in partnership with companies of any size in the medical technology industry (implant manufacturers, production machine manufacturers, suppliers, suppliers of raw materials) as well as with large university clinics.
