Marcel Blanke

Marcel Blanke is currently working as a research assistant in the Bioprocess Technology Group at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Muttenz.

He joined the team in September 2022, immediately after completing his bachelor’s degree in bioanalytics & cell biology at the FHNW. He has a broad knowledge in the processing and anal-ysis of chemical and biological samples, working with different cell cultures, proteins and various molecular biology applications. In this role, he is participating in several research projects for e.g. to produce and purify a novel nanobody or improving plasmid production yields.

Prior to his academic pursuits from 2014 to 2022, he gained several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry during his time from as lab technician and his apprenticeship as chemi-cal laboratory assistant at the Bayer AG from with a specialisation in analytical chemistry.

At Bayer he worked as Expert for Cleaning Validation and Qualification of lab devices and is therefore very familiar with quality control laboratories and experienced in the GMP environ-ment.
