New International Project – Compass for Digital Responsibility in Families
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new international project, “Compass for Digital Responsibility in Families.” The project will officially begin on 1 October 2026 and will run for 18 months.
Funded by Movetia, the Swiss National Agency for Exchange and Mobility in the education sector, and carried out by a consortium of partners from Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Estonia, the project aims to develop a digital assessment tool that helps families navigate digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) in a safe, critical, and responsible way.
The project consortium brings together expertise from research, education, digital trust, and youth work:

- Jugendarbeit.digital (Switzerland)
- Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia)
- TNO – Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (Netherlands)
Supporting families in the digital age
Digital technologies and AI are becoming an increasingly important part of everyday family life. Yet knowing how to use these technologies safely and responsibly can be challenging. The Compass for Digital Responsibility in Families project addresses this challenge by helping parents, children, and young people better understand their digital and AI-related knowledge, skills, and needs.
Assessing strengths and identifying areas for development
The assessment will help parents, children, and young people to identify their digital and AI-related strengths, as well as areas where they may need to further develop their knowledge and skills. Based on their results, participants will receive clear, accessible, and practical feedback to help them understand where they are already well equipped and where additional knowledge or skills could be beneficial.
Connecting families with relevant support
A key objective of the project is to bridge the gap between families’ needs and the information, resources, and support already available. By identifying areas where additional support may be needed, the assessment will guide families towards relevant resources and services.
In doing so, the project seeks not only to make existing support more accessible and easier to navigate, but also to strengthen families’ digital competencies and confidence. Ultimately, the Compass for Digital Responsibility in Families aims to empower families to engage with digital technologies and AI safely, critically, confidently, and responsibly.
