Successful Kick-off Event IM Alumni raises over CHF 4000
A charity auction held at the official IM Alumni Association kick-off event on Saturday 12 May, 2012 raised over CHF 4000. These proceeds will go towards the fledgling association of alumni of the BSc in Business Administration (International Management) and to the Beatrice International College Kyankwanzi in Uganda which was set up by a former IM student.
Alumni bidding at charity auction
About 80 alumni and faculty attended the kick-off event in Olten. The association was set up on the initiative of two alumni, Florian Estoppey and Firat Aslan, late last year. As Florian Estoppey, the President of the new association said in his opening words, the association hopes to enable networking between alumni, link alumni to their alma mater and stage regular events. It also aims to support and re-invest in global education which is why the secondary school in Uganda was selected for sponsoring. This college, set up by Regina Nassaremba, who graduated in 2010, is supported by a registered charity established by School of Business faculty (www.beatriceinternationalcollege.com.)
The charity auction was one of the highlights of the evening. Ten members of faculty, former students and current students offered half a day of varying activities for auction. These activities ranged from climbing in the Jura, to chauffeuring to and from parties, cooking paella, baking muffins, full manicures and city guiding. The evening also offered speed networking, opportunities to socialize and to contribute ideas on what the association should organise next.
Photos of the event and further information about the Association are soon available via various platforms: the IM Alumni LinkedIn group, the Facebook IM Alumni group or the website and under the website www.imalumni.com. The IM Alumni Association plans to organise further events. Current priorities are to fill its website with contents and increase membership.
