The courses of study offered by the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland FHNW are practically oriented and in line with market requirements. They are available on a full-time or part-time basis or a combination of the two.
Students pursue bachelor's or master's degrees depending on the previous education or training received.
Bachelor's degree studies
This first level of university education generally lasts six to eight semesters and concludes with the award of a bachelor's degree.
Master's degree studies
A master's programme allows students in possession of a bachelor's degree to engage with a greater academic depth and research a particular topic more intensively – a highly viable alternative to immediately entering professional life.
The FHNW offers a wide range of continuing education courses: Executive MBA programmes, Masters of Advances Studies, Diplomas of Advanced Studies, Certificates of Advanced Studies, specialised courses, seminars and workshops.
Studies at the FHNW adhere to the European Bologna system. Visit or the Rectors' Conference of Swiss Universities (CRUS) for explanations of the relevant terminology.
