Centre for Civic and History Education
Research into skills and knowledge acquisition in history and civic education
The Centre for Civic and History Education is a department within the Centre for Democracy Aarau (www.zdaarau.ch/). The centre works on developing relevant subject-related principles, such as a skills model for civic education.
The centre researches teaching and learning processes in civic education and history, develops teaching materials (hardcopy and new media), and engages in education and continuing education through seminars and courses.
History teachers receive support through teaching aids, such as the History Helpline. The centre operates the civic education platform politischebildung.ch and publishesPolis, the annual magazine for civic education (launched February 2008).
