Centre for Learning and Socialisation
The Centre for Learning and Socialisation deals with growing up in kindergarten, school and vocational training. Children and adolescents learn and develop in several social environments. The interaction of these social environments is crucial for the development of the personality and for the educational and professional opportunities of young people. What is of particular interest is how students are supported in building motivation, values, social and subject-specific competences. Furthermore, transitions between different social contexts especially transitions between schools are examined. Transitions are concentration points of learning and development processes. Central are the decision and selection processes before moving into new contexts as well as the adaptation after the transition. Key research areas are:
- School and family socialization
- Family – school – job transitions
- Social challenges facing children and adolescents, e.g. migration, integration in school and the work environment, growing up under changing and diverse conditions of life.
Research and development at the Centre for Learning and Socialization is embedded in cooperation with national and international partners. Research results are addressed at the scientific community as well as practitioners, administrators and policy makers.
