Centre for Public Education Studies

The empirical and historical studies conducted at the ZSE relate on the one hand to educational activity in the school, to the school as an institution, to the class as an arena of educational activity, and to the lesson as a forum for teaching and learning. On the other hand, the studies relate to transition processes – in particular those between schools and changes in socialisation contexts – which investigate extra-scholastic influences on educational activity in the school and in lessons, and which contribute an outside perspective on scholastic processes and educational pathways.

It follows that the projects undertaken at the ZSE concern both educational processes in the school as a habitat and place of learning, as well as the developmental and socialisation processes of children in scholastic and extra-scholastic contexts (families, peer groups, vocational relationships).

Research focuses:

- Teaching

- Family - school - job transitions

- School and the wider society
