Autonomous Assistant

The goal of this research project is to develop an autonomous assistant capable of escorting guests to a room. The assistant greets guests, engages them in conversation, and verbally takes their requests. While object/person recognition and navigation are processed locally, speech processing in any language (even Swiss German) is handled online.

The assistant is implemented as an add-on to a Clearpath Dingo-O mobile platform, featuring an NVIDIA Jetson Orin AGX and additional ultrasonic sensors for detecting glass walls.
The lower part of the head contains programmable eyes, a speaker, four microphones, and four cameras for 360-degree panoramic vision.
The upper part of the head contains an additional LiDAR sensor to accurately capture the room geometry at a height above tables and cabinets.
