Exploration Week FHNW

Exploration Week FHNW is an interdisciplinary study week that will be launched as a pilot project to mark the 20th anniversary of the FHNW in 2026.

The Exploration Week FHNW aims to test innovative teaching formats, strengthen future-oriented skills and promote cross-university collaboration. At its heart is the networking of students and staff from all universities – within a dynamic, practice-oriented environment: interdisciplinary, collaborative and forward-looking.

As a cross-university initiative, Exploration Week FHNW is based on a decentralised participation model. All FHNW universities are invited to play an active role in shaping the event, thereby enabling around 500 students to enjoy an interdisciplinary learning experience. The first Exploration Week FHNW will take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026. Lecturers, staff and students have applied with an interdisciplinary teaching format or a contribution to the supporting programme – thematically, the offerings are anchored in the strategic future fields: New Work, Future Health and Zero Emission.

Exploration Week FHNW is organised by the Vice-Presidency for University Development and works closely with:

  • the innovation managers of the FHNW future fields
  • the project ChallengeEU
  • the ‘CoCreating Sustainable Futures’ project funded by swissuniversities
  • the steering committee of Exploration Week FHNW, comprising Stefan Joller (Chair, Vice-President, University Development FHNW), Doris Agotai (Director of HSI), Guido McCombie (Director of PH), Gerhard Fellnhofer (Director of HABG), Valerie Ott (President of students.fhnw), and Désirée Harmuth (ICo Innovation Manager for New Work).
