The MAKEathon brings together students, professionals, researchers, domain experts, designers, developers, companies, and other creative minds.
You can take part as a maker, challenge provider, mentor, or guest.
Makers:
Work in an interdisciplinary team and turn a real-world challenge into an AI prototype.
Teams consist of two to five makers. You may join with an existing team or register individually. Each participant must complete a separate registration.
The MAKEathon takes place onsite at FHNW Campus Olten, and attendance is required.
Students may be eligible to receive 1 ECTS credit for their participation. Recognition depends on the respective study program, so please check with the head of your study program before registering.
Students from the BSc in Business Artificial Intelligence or the MSc in Business Information Systems may have the opportunity to extend their work and receive additional credits. Please contact the respective program head for further information.
Participation fee: CHF 20
Places are limited, so register early.
Challenge Providers:
Do you have a real business or societal challenge that could benefit from AI?
Suitable challenges may involve:
- making better use of available data,
- explaining AI-generated decisions or predictions,
- capturing and using domain knowledge,
- meeting regulatory requirements, or
- exploring a new AI-based product or service.
Submit your challenge and work with an interdisciplinary team to explore a possible solution and develop an initial prototype.
Interested organizations can also support the MAKEathon as a sponsor.
Mentors:
Do you have expertise in AI, data science, knowledge engineering, UX, business strategy, software development, or a related field?
Support interdisciplinary teams by sharing your expertise, asking critical questions, and providing targeted feedback. Mentors guide the teams without taking over their work.
Mentorship is voluntary. Mentors receive:
- free access to the event,
- lunch and coffee breaks,
- a personal badge, and
- an official MAKEathon certificate of attendance.
