Checklist

▢ Submit your secondary school leaving certificate (high school diploma)
Apply for scholarship
Enrol in a preparatory course (optional)
Inform about compensation for disadvantages (disability and chronic disease)
Find an accommodation
Activate accounts and student e-mail address!
▢ Get familiar with inside.fhnw (access with your activated email address only)
▢ Get familiar with FHNW
Submit personal data sheet and confirmation of residence!
▢ Inform the secretariat about possible military service
▢ Inform the secretariat about possible change of address

Grants and Loans

Your canton of residence is responsible for scholarships and interest-free loans. Due to the different cantonal criteria, the contributions vary depending on the canton and are granted or rejected according to different criteria. Scholarship applications must be submitted in writing to the cantonal scholarship office.

Voluntary Preparatory Courses

If you feel insecure in one or more core subjects or if you passed your commercial vocational baccalaureate some time ago, you can take a preparatory course before you start your studies.
(only suitable for starting in the autumn semester)

Location Basel: Handelsschule KV Basel
Preparatory courses in accounting, and mathematics

Location Brugg: Zentrum Bildung
Preparatory courses in accounting, mathematics and English

Location Olten: BBZ Olten
Preparatory courses in mathematics and financial accounting

Disadvantage Compensation

If you have any questions regarding adjustment measures to compensate for disability-related disadvantages, please contact the relevant office.

Flat hunting

There are various platforms for finding an accommodation. You can expect to pay between CHF 450 and 1200 per month for accommodation.
