Program Structure

Weeks 1 – 2: Foundations & Context
Introduction to course objectives, structure, and expectations.
Overview of cybersecurity risks in Switzerland and South Africa, alongside key concepts of payment ecosystems. Includes an interactive simulation of a cybersecurity incident affecting payment systems in both contexts.

Week 3: South Africa Focus
Exploration of selected South African payment systems, supported by guest speakers. Discussion of cybersecurity regulations and compliance frameworks, combined with real-world case studies of cyberattacks in the South African context.

Week 4: Switzerland Focus
Examination of Swiss payment systems with input from guest speakers.
Analysis of cybersecurity regulations and compliance in Switzerland, complemented by case studies of cyber incidents in the Swiss context.

Week 5: Expert Dialogue
Panel discussion bringing together experts from Switzerland and South Africa to share insights on cybersecurity challenges and payment systems, fostering cross-continental exchange.

Week 6: Synthesis & Comparison
Integration of course topics through a structured comparison of Switzerland and South Africa, highlighting similarities, differences, and opportunities for collaboration and innovation.

Week 7: Presentations & Reflection
Final participant presentations, consolidation of key lessons learned, and collection of feedback to reflect on outcomes and improve future iterations.
