The FHNW Centre for Social Work Studies deals with all questions and concerns regarding the university’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Social Work.
Centre staff are responsible for developing, planning, organising, operating, and evaluating undergraduate (BA) and postgraduate (MA) studies in social work at FHNW. The Centre consists of the programme directors, course administration officers, and three specialised units. It is operated at both campuses of the FHNW School of Social Work.

Specialised Units
Unit staff develop and teach basic methods and teaching approaches, provide staff and students with e-learning support, evaluate and assure the quality of teaching and learning, offer student advice, and cultivate contacts with field organisations.
Unit for Admissions and Student Advice
Our staff are the first point of contact for advice and information on our Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work. We advise prospective students and support students with organising their studies, including timetabling, handling course requirements, and managing learning motivation or crises.
Unit for Field Training and Knowledge Integration
Our staff establish the foundations for conceiving, operating, and further developing field training. We ensure the integration of training and practice. Field training is an integral part of our Bachelor’s in Social Work. It takes place either in field organisations or as university-based project workshops.
Unit for Competency Research and Didactics
Our staff advise teaching faculty on general questions surrounding higher education teaching, media didactics, quality assurance, and staff development. We have special expertise in the use of digital tools.
