05-06/2025: Group Meetings in Basel

During two three-day block meetings (6–8 May, 10–12 June) at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, numerous topics relating to the edition of Tartini’s didactic writings and those of his students were discussed.The focus was on developing transcription guidelines for texts and musical examples. The great variety in content and visual appearance of the mostly handwritten sources poses a major challenge.In addition, the planned editions also differ greatly in their manner. While the ‘Regole per arrivare’, for example, have five textual witnesses that have to be compared and variants recorded, most of the delivered sources are single manifestations. Most of the single sources are in terms of appearance and theoretical content more complex to convert into digital format.
