Inclusion of LGBTIQ+ Students at Swiss Universities

Cooperation project with Bern University of Applied Sciences and PHBern as part of the swissuniversities program P7 "Diversity, Inclusion and Equality of Opportunity in University Development".

The abbreviation LGBTIQ+ stands for persons whose sexual orientation, gender identity or characteristics differs from the predominant social norms. With this project, BFH, PHBern and FHNW want to promote inclusion and identification of LGBTIQ+ students. To this end, actors - university members who are involved in some way with the inclusion of LGBTIQ+ students - are strengthened in their task of making the university an inclusive and discrimination-free place.

Procedure
The project follows an inclusive and participatory approach by involving LGBTIQ+ students and stakeholders in all three project phases. In the first phase, the current situation in selected universities is surveyed. In the second phase, needs for action are identified and defined in collaboration with students and other knowledge carriers, and recommendations for action are developed. In the third phase, personas and materials will be discussed and validated in several workshops together with stakeholders and LGBTIQ+ students.

Resutls
As an output of the project, personas will be developed as theoretical figures, which actors can use to check their offers, policies and routines of action. Furthermore, information materials and documents for the implementation of workshops will be developed and made available to interested universities.
