Methods and systems for neuronal stimulation

Development and optimization of neuronal stimulation methods and systems.

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is the electrical stimulation of neuronal structures in deep brain regions for the treatment of depression, Parkinson's and other movement disorders. It is a common therapy today and numerous new fields of application, such Alzheimer's disease, are currently being investigated. In spite of these new possibilities, neither the exact function of DBS nor the ideal anatomical location for the electrodes are fully understood. One thing is certain however: precise positioning is essential for therapeutic success.

In collaboration with our international clinical, academic and industrial partners, we are developing innovative methods and systems to evaluate and optimize electrode placement, as well as researching the functional mechanisms of neuronal stimulation. In addition to deep brain stimulation, new approaches to cortical stimulation therapy are also gaining in significance.
