The Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW maintains numerous partnerships with national and international universities and offers Bachelor‘s and Master‘s students the opportunity to study abroad for a semester during their education or to participate in collaborative projects.
Students can spend up to 12 months per study period (Bachelor and Master) at these partner universities, which are funded by the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).
The International Office provides content-related advice and support in the preparation of the exchange semester to students who are interested in a stay at a partner university in Switzerland or abroad. Students in Bachelor‘s and Master‘s programs at the Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW can spend up to two semesters of their studies at a partner school. Decide what country and what institution you would like to study at. Start planning a year in advance.
Clarify the offer, nomination and application deadlines, language of instruction and admission criteria of the host institution.
Get in touch with the head of your study program to decide if the exchange semester timing is right and what modules you need to choose to receive the necessary number of ECTS.
If the head of your institute agrees that you are able to study abroad, then they can send a written acknowledgement about your exchange semester to the International Office.
The International Office will then release the required documents and nominate you at the host institution.
After the nomination you can complete the necessary documents and get the required signatures for the application.
The International Office reviews the SEMP documents and triggers payment after the start of the stay abroad.
Inform the Student Administration about the planned stay abroad.
If you are studying abroad at one of our partner universities you do not pay any additional semester fees, as this is funded through the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP).
