Research in Music at Basel Academy of Music

Our research activities centre on artistic action in the field of music, and the conditions that frame this process – from creation to performance, through to mediation and reception. Research projects draw directly on teaching content and are carried out together with industry partners and practitioners, often as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and Basel Academy of Music, Klassik pursue their own research priorities and traditions.

Schola Cantorum Basiliensis specialises in practice-based Early Music research, in particular, Historical Performance Practice and Organology.

The Academy of Music, Klassik Research Department specialises in three fields: Contemporary/New Music, 19th Century Music and Music Pedagogy.
