Minor in Jazz

In-depth exploration of jazz

This Minor is aimed at Master's students who would like to study jazz alongside their advanced instrument/pedagogical training. Students will have the opportunity to improve their jazz skills on their main instrument as well as explore the wider context of jazz musicianship.

Improvisation and rhythm training

Alongside rigorous groundwork on stylistic and improvisational instrumental techniques, students receive intensive rhythm and ear training. Time and organisation permitting, students will also have an opportunity to perform as part of ensembles, workshops and Jazz Department projects.
