Together with the Department of Musicology of Basel University
The Minor in Musicology is aimed at Master's students who would like to study musicology alongside their advanced instrument/pedagogical training. Students have the option of writing their Master's thesis on a subject covered by this Minor. This course is especially recommended for students who wish to continue their studies at doctoral level or plan to carry out a major piece of research.
Passed the entrance exam for the Major in the chosen Master's Programme (MA P or MA MP)
Federally recognised Swiss/cantonal Baccalaureate, or equivalent qualifications from a foreign education provider
Official consent of the head lecturer of the Major subject

Introduction to musicology
Working methods, bibliography
Composition techniques and notation I or II
Elective classes from the history-related modules I-IV
Contextual music analysis: Modern Music (Proseminar)
