Phylogenetics can help us better understand the long-term relationships humans develop with endemic viruses - how our immunity protects us and how viruses change to evade it over our lives. In my talk, I will discuss recent changes in Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) evolution and its biennial cycle using pre- and post-pandemic data, with a focus on demographic associations and what we might be able to find from wastewater sequencing.
