The Art of the String Multiphonic

27. & 28.01.2022 – Workshops, Lectures & Concert

The latest research into multiphonics for cello, guitar, harp, and piano will be presented in workshops, lectures, and a concert. Topics include technical tips, notation, practical concerns, musical applications, and the theoretical basis, with hands-on inputs from composition and performance students. The concert brings multiphonics to the stage through new works by Paul Clift, Jessie Marino, Øyvind Maeland, Idin Samimi Mofakham, Elnaz Seyedi, Caspar Johannes Walter and Arash Yazdani.

With: Ellen Fallowfield (cello), Gunnhildur Einarsdottir (harp), Seth Josel (guitar/E-guitar), Sanae Yoshida (piano), Thomas Ciszak, Marc Sabat, and Caspar Johannes Walter

The symposium is a project of the Hochschule für Musik FHNW.

The project is supported by the Walter Fischli – Stiftung.
We are grateful for all supporters for facilitating the event.
