The final outcome competence will be that the graduate students can perform effectively in the professional environment of both commerce and industry.
Students are placed in one of the six courses according to their intake level. The modules are progressive in that the level increases according to the number of the module, the Bridging course being the lowest and the electives the highest. Included in each module will be the appropriate input of both grammar and vocabulary.
The individual objective of this module is to develop the receptive and productive skills of writing and listening.
Writing
The students can
- distinguish between formal and informal text types
- use appropriate register according to context.
- incorporate cohesive devices into their writing.
- structure a text coherently
- use newly acquired lexis effectively.
- demonstrate an understanding of specific features such as spelling and punctuation
Listening
- comprehend audio input from a variety of sources and media
- interpret a text in terms of both gist and detail
