Nummer20204S2Zielsetzung / PurposeBy attending this course, students will learn the basic concepts underlying databases. They will be able to use Entity-Relationship diagrams to develop data models and to transform these into normalized databases.
Theory:
Students will be able to analyze and formulate SQL and QBE queries, and use these queries to extract information from databases. They will also gain practical experience with simple database development tools.
Students will learn about the architecture and usage of information systems in business management, and will understand the tasks, roles and methods used in information management.
Finally, students will learn how to use MS Excel solver to address optimization problems in different business domains.
Tools:
This part is accompanying the theory. Students are working on the design and implementation of a database solution for a particular business domain. Their work tasks include the design and implementation of the database. The design of forms and reports finally constitutes the user interface of the databse application.
