Module description - Simulation & Agents

Number
simag
ECTS 3.0
Level advanced
Overview Modeling and simulation of real-world phenomena are important techniques to investigate and represent complex systems. This module provides an overview of different simulation approaches used in scientific domains and entertainment. Focus of this module are fast and interactive methods, which have practical applications in the fields of research, games, spatial computing and robotics.

  • Applications in science & entertainment (e.g., games)
  • Procedural animations & inverse kinematicss
  • Discrete & continuous simulations
  • Particle & grid-based simulationss
  • Agent-based modeling & simulation (e.g. flocking behavior, crowds)
  • Modeling of complex systems (physical, mathematical & logical representations)
  • Discrete & continuous actions and state spaces
Learning objectives
  • Students can recognize and compare practical applications in the field of simulation and agents
  • Students can solve problems arising in interactive simulations
  • Students can evaluate simulation methods comparatively
  • Students can analyze and apply numerical methods on mechanical problems
  • Students can practically implement simulations of discrete and continuous systems in a high-level programming language
