Engagement with food culture is more than just zeitgeist. It is key to education and cultural life and plays a significant part in everyday life at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design.

The FoodCultureLab offers an ideal platform: it’s a centre for excellence in food culture, an initiation space for creativity, and a place of hospitality and, of course, of cooking.

In connection with interdisciplinary projects and applied research along with public cooking events and lectures, the FoodCultureLab deals with food culture from an aesthetic perspective: this includes experimenting with modes of production and cooking methods, imparting knowledge on cultural mindsets and ritual practices, and sensitizing consumers to the quality of foodstuffs and the sustainable use of food resources.

Students can use the FoodCultureLab for cooking together, thus continuing the old tradition of student cuisine. The Academy’s teachers and staff members, neighbours and interested guests are welcome to use the cooking lab. FoodCultureLab offers a new space for informal get-togethers, a place for making contacts, talking about joint projects, and coming up with new ideas.

Please be seated, food will be served shortly!
