Diverse and attractive study opportunities for incoming students from abroad

Why study at FHNW?

FHNW offers a wide variety of degree programmes. All our courses provide a sound combination of theory and practice. A degree programme at FHNW gets you involved in assignments and projects with practical relevance.

The size of our classes ranges from 20 to 70 students at most schools. At the academy of music, students are generally taught individually. This means it is possible to establish a personal relationship. It is very easy to get to know other students and lecturers, and we also offer a wide range of sports programmes in addition to your studies.

FHNW Summer schools

Some FHNW schools offer Summer Schools for foreign and Swiss students. Internal Summer or Winter Schools are offered as a course module of some degree programmes.

Buddy programmes

At some schools there are locally based buddy programmes which provide a friend or “buddy” for incoming students so as to help them find their bearings and settle into life in Switzerland. Buddies also organise activities, events and outings for and with exchange students.

If you live in Switzerland you can sign on as a buddy and enjoy the advantages of coming into contact with fellow students from abroad. Ask at your school whether a buddy programme is offered.

Information on Switzerland for incoming students

Would you like to study for one or two exchange semesters at our university? We look forward to seeing you here! In order to take an exchange semester with us, you have to be enrolled at a partner university of the school in question and meet the language requirements for your chosen degree programme.

Swiss European Mobility Programme SEMP / Erasmus+
