Career to date

• Since 01.09.2011 until 31.03.2021, he has been Head of the Institute for Research and Development of Collaborative Processes at the FHNW School of Applied Psychology.
• Since 01.11.2006, he has been a lecturer at FHNW. He is involved here in promoting 'collaboration across locations, organisations, and cultures' as a topic of interest. He devises and runs tuition classes on this topic and will be setting up research projects in this area too – such as on the topic of 'collaborative project management'.
• Prior to this, he spent 7 years from 1999 to 2006 in the central research department at DaimlerChrysler AG, initially as a member of the academic staff (4 years) and then as team leader (3 years). During this time, he set up a 'Psychology in Engineering' team consisting of seven or so occupational and organisational psychologists. The team ran service-related and applied research projects within the various plants at DaimlerChrysler AG on the topics of intercultural collaboration between different companies within the group and participatory approaches to the introduction of technology.
• Upon completing his Psychology degree, Hartmut Schulze was employed for 8 years (from 1991 to 1999) as a member of the academic staff at the University of Hamburg in the field of occupational, industrial, and environmental psychology. Building on a series of research projects on 'experiential work', he studied for a doctorate at this university on a topic related to knowledge management ('The Benefit of Experience as a Model for the Development of Technology').
