    Overview
    The English Grammar Intensive module reviews selected grammar topics which continue to be a common source of errors for students at this level. It is also recommended as preparation for those planning on taking an exam course (CAE, BEC Higher). The module covers:
    • the English tense system
    • passive voice
    • verb patterns
    • relative clauses
    • nouns, articles and determiners
    • dependent prepositions
    Course content is further outlined in the module script. Extra practice material is provided for class work and self-study. In addition, students are expected to use a grammar book or online resources for independent learning.
    Learning objectives
    Upon successful completion of the module, participants can:
    • better understand how the structures of the English language relate to the creation of meaning in context.
    • use a wider range of grammatical patterns with greater confidence, fluency, effectiveness and accuracy in both spoken and written communication.
    • significantly reduce the number of grammatical errors in their spoken and written language output
    • recognise and correct mistakes related to the grammar topics covered in the module
    • make skillful use of various traditional and online resources to check grammar and usage points.
    Previous knowledge
    Entry based on placement test or successful completion of e4/ten2. Language level C1 or above.
