Challenge Webengineering 1
Students solve a real and interdisciplinary problem in teams and thereby acquire practice-relevant data science competences.
The challenge assignments require the combination of several individual competences (which the students can acquire in the competence modules of the curriculum) and their transfer to realistic practical applications. Through the challenge task, the students come into contact with the technical issues of the challenge domain (application area), acquire the necessary basic domain knowledge and deepen this as far as necessary in order to be able to solve the task appropriately.
Challenges are carried out in teams. The performance record of the challenge consists of a submission and a defense.
Domain
Students gain domain knowledge that allows them to understand and solve the data science problem at hand.
Procedure
The students choose an appropriate procedure for solving the challenge in consideration of the data or artefacts that are available. They can critically question or analyse the chosen procedure - as well as possible alternative procedures - and compare them if necessary.
Competencies
Students integrate knowledge, tools and methods from competence modules in the interdisciplinary and realistic context of the challenge task. They are able to argue and explain the selection of tools and methods and their use in the challenge in a comprehensible way.
Reproducibility
Students document their work process and progress in a comprehensible way.
Reflection
Students will be able to critically evaluate their work, the results and their delivery and communicate them appropriately.
