Social Embedding of a Data Sciecnce Challenge

The module enables an in-depth and critical examination of the subject of a challenge in the phases of problem identification and solution finding.

In data science projects, in addition to the necessary specialist and methodological knowledge, specialists are confronted with data from application areas that are not within the scope of their professional expertise. These originate from social contexts (domains), whose characteristics accompany the progress of the project from problem identification to solution finding and have a decisive influence on the result.

Students are able to grasp the problem in its social dimensions and describe it competently. You analyse and evaluate your research question and related information critically and comprehensively. You will critically scrutinise your own and others' assumptions and points of view and adapt your research question as required.

Students learn to recognise the effects of their own solution approaches and are able to depict these expertly.
