From Infrastructure as Code to cloud nativeness: expertise for scalable and sustainable solutions
Research focus areas
Digital transformation is also reshaping IT infrastructures: hyperscalers such as AWS, Azure and Google provide de facto standardised products in the areas of computing, networking and data storage. These services are scalable, automatable and highly available at transparent pricing.
The use of such public cloud services opens up entirely new possibilities – from the straightforward provisioning, operation and maintenance of basic services via Infrastructure as Code to the (energy-)efficient use of cloud-specific services such as Function as a Service or containerisation solutions.
At the same time, the rich feature set creates a field of tension, as significant aspects of sovereignty are relinquished when relying on traditional hyperscalers.
Our expertise lies in the technical development and evaluation of private, hybrid and public cloud platforms, cloud-based architectures, and the design and implementation of migration projects between cloud infrastructures.
Our focus is on sovereignty, sustainability, and efficient resource and cost management, combined with high availability, data protection and operational requirements.
In this context, we offer interested Master’s students opportunities to study and conduct applied research in the fields of Cloud and Cloud Nativeness.
For companies, we provide consulting and software services in this domain, as well as opportunities to realise joint project ideas.
