The Requirements Engineering: Foundation for Software Quality (REFSQ) conference series is Europe’s leading forum for advancing research and practice in requirements engineering. It brings together researchers, industry professionals, and educators to exchange cutting-edge insights on developing high-quality, reliable, and trustworthy software systems.

As elected chair of the background organisation for the 2026–2029 conference editions, Samuel Fricker from the Institute of Interactive Technologies (FHNW) plays a central role in ensuring the continuity and effective implementation of the conference series. The project focuses on coordinating organisational processes, enabling structured knowledge transfer across annual editions, and strengthening REFSQ’s long-term sustainability and international visibility.

By actively shaping the development of the conference, the project fosters a highly interactive and collaborative environment that bridges academia and industry. It also supports the integration of emerging topics such as ethical and trustworthy software systems, ensuring that REFSQ remains at the forefront of future-oriented requirements and software engineering discourse
